Adam’s Peak(Siripada)

Start the exhilarating climb up Adam’s Peak in the early morning hours to witness the magical sunrise, and later head back to Hatton for a well-earned rest amidst its serene surroundings.

Devotees climb the mountain at night to witness the “Ira Sevaya” (Sunrise Spectacle), where the peak casts a perfect triangular shadow.

It is famous for the “Sri Pada” (Sacred Footprint) at the summit, which is venerated by multiple religious groups:

  • Buddhists believe it is the footprint of Lord Buddha during his visit to Sri Lanka.
  • Hindus associate it with Lord Shiva (Shiva Pada).
  • Christians and Muslims believe it is the footprint of Adam or St. Thomas.
